about us
You will be hard pressed to locate anyone else in New Zealand quite as knowledgeable and as passionate about educating, and lobbying for positive change in the laser & IPL aesthetic industry than Ruth Nicholson (Director of NZLT Institute) and her trusty sidekick Stacey Spencer.
Be reassured that the NZLT Institute team is honest, ethical, and transparent and is more than happy to assist business owners who seek to purchase or have already purchased laser and IPL equipment and may still determine what they have or how to use it safely. Many businesses need help to understand the expectations to meet industry best practices or regulations; this is what we can assist with, as there are many pitfalls for the unaware. Our commitment to you is that we always go the extra mile to help and become your most valuable and recognized industry resource.
Ruth has been actively involved with medical and beauty professionals since 2004. This includes a past role as a product specialist and sales representative for a range of appearance medicine and beauty products, class 4 laser and IPL-based technology, and a range of beauty equipment at NZ Medical & Scientific Ltd. Her background also includes an adult tertiary teaching qualification (NZQA level 5), NZQA 4098 workplace assessors qualification, and being a Laser Safety Officer (AACDS LSO - QLD). She has been formally trained by leading laser companies and holds an NZQA pharmaceutical qualification.
As an NZQA-qualified adult tutor with 20 years of relevant industry experience, including thirteen years of developing and teaching Laser and IPL to beauty and medical aesthetics professionals, she recognised that the laser industry was dangerously unregulated, in so, making it her mission and business to change this. She is passionate about educating laser users and sharing the extensive knowledge she has learned over the years working with these highly technical machines to offer the best laser training in New Zealand. This is made possible with the dedicated support of Senior Clinical Tutor Stacey Spencer.
Ruth's goal is to ensure laser safety and laser science topics are well understood, and that best practice is upheld, protecting the public and ensuring operators of laser and IPL devices receive the best education and guidelines, coupled with expert support for learners' career success.
Stacey Spencer is our dedicated and passionate senior laser tutor and is a qualified health and safety officer with international qualifications in adult education from the UK (City & Guilds).
Stacey is our nominated Laser Health and Safety officer and possesses an impressive 22 years of laser industry experience - including 10 years with NZ Laser Training Institute.
Stacey prides herself on maintaining high standards, and if you are seeking to learn from the best, to become the best, you know that under her guidance you will be top of field. She has developed exceptional world-class protocols and practical skills for both our NZQA-Micro-credential practical classes and the NZLT Institute Mini Mods® classes across Skin Rejuvenation, Hair Removal & Laser Tattoo removal.
