Operating a light source device and applying it to the skin and knowing what hazards they pose are two different things.

Before anyone undertakes training in how to use a light based devcie they first need to understand what they are, and the hazards they pose.

Some of our programmes contain laser safety messages, and laser safety information, however they are not the same as being issued a laser safety certficate.

We recommend a new laser safety certificate should be obtained every 3 years. This is due to changes in regulations, terms used, and safety information being updated.

Remember simply holding a laser safety certficate is not the same as being trained as an operator of the light based device. Please check out the options further down our courses page to look for the topic you wish to refresh in as an operator of an IPL or Laser.

Yes, the LSC (Laser safety base certificates) are the starting point before signing up for the LHSO (Laser health & Safety offciers cert)

You can do any of the below combinations:

This is an open entry programme, and although yes, anyone can train in the topic, there are factors to consider:

1. There are regulations for those operating in certain regions - please check your local council for details.

2. Not everyone is great at laser or IPL - this is a technical field and mastering your communications skills, and having excellent hygienic practices is also part of what is required of you.

3. Buying a quality laser or IPL for conducting hair removal treatment isnt cheap, although the internet is flooded with cheap devices , many are not effective, safe or wiryn the advertised price. Do not buy anything until you have completed professional training.

4. Many burns occur because of a lack of understanding of the science and safe use of a device. Plan to take 30 hours to complete the required theory, and 4 days minimum to start at the basics. Advanced hair removal takes longer.

5. The cost of a device ranges from $60K to $200K (excl. GST)

6. Suppliers you purchase from offer training with the device you buy, this may vary from the quality and quantity of training we provide. Best advice is to go through us ened to end and don’t rush into buying anything until you are trained and know what type of devcie you actually need.

Great! As long as you have completed Hair Removal Theory Online you can enrol into a beginner / advanced hair removal practical 1 day workshop.

Yes and No - some of our programmes are open entry - this includes: Laser Safety for Beauty or Medical, IPL & Laser Hair Removal Theory Online, Laser Tattoo Removal Theory and Skin Lesions / Melanoma awareness - these are all online and anyone can sign up and start. For Skin Rejuvenation start with Block 1 - Skin Rejuvenation with IPL and Lasers then mix 'n' match topics to suit your learning needs.

If you are looking at completing practical courses, then yes these all have pre-requisites.

YES, you can get a qualification on Lasers & IPL with our NZQA approved and accredited Micro-credential which attracts 40 credits. We are the only educator in New Zealand that this can be achieved. You can sign up for this programme, but make sure you check out the pre-requisites that apply for it, all the details are on the website.

Skin rejuvenation is an advanced topic, and with well over 15 different ways to ‘rejuvenate’ the skin, the options can be daunting.

These below are rough guidelines to assist you in your planning.

Treat skin pigmentation:

To treat vascular concerns:
